When the alarm goes off at 5:30 am it's not so hard to get out of bed because I know that there will be delightful friends gathering to go walking with me - us, now that Katie is here. Mornings have never been Katie's favourite time of day, but she makes the effort because it's so much fun with our walking crew. This morning we had a newcomer join us - Mạnh. His English is excellent and he teaches several of our friends. Lovely guy...
After walking our usual route, we parted company with Thương and Ngọc, who had to get home, and Luyền, who rides her bike to Cầu Rào and parks it at the bus station so she can join us on our walks. The rest of us decided to go for breakfast at "our" bánh
cuốn lady on Văn
Cao.
Long, Mạnh, Hiếu, Dịu, Katie and Tuyền
It was good to have Tuyền join us this morning. Lately he has been away - back in his home town helping out with the fish harvest. Hauling in tonnes of 3kg fish with nets would be hard work. Being so tall and strong, it's easy to see why he is in such high demand. Sadly for me though, he's not been able to walk with us over the past few weeks.
Luyền stopped as she rode past us on her way home. In typical fashion Long and Hiếu didn't waste a photo opportunity .. haha.
All this fun before 7am ... what a great way to start the day!
